BOUCHERVILLE, Quebec (AP) – The Lewiston Maineiacs will need permission from the Montreal Junior to move to the northwest Montreal suburb of Boisbriand, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League said Friday.

During a conference call held with league owners, QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau was mandated to redefine the territorial rights contained in the league charter, and to find solutions regarding existing franchise contracts.

The Maineiacs have been were granted permission to seek relocation.

Because the Junior hold territorial rights in the area, the Maineiacs will need the go-ahead from the club in order to move to Boisbriand.

Also Friday, the commissioner awarded the Acadie-Bathurst Titan a 30-day extension to submit a relocation request.
