BOSTON (AP) – Some Boston sports fans slammed by the teetering economy won’t be paying more to see their favorite teams next season.

The Boston Bruins announced Friday that 99 percent of season ticket prices would hold steady or decrease in the 2009-10 season. Only the first row seats behind the boards would increase, while prices in four loge sections would go down next season.

The defending NBA champion Celtics announced a day earlier they wouldn’t increasing season ticket loge and balcony prices for 2009-10, and the New England Patriots also confirmed they aren’t raising ticket prices for 2009.

The Celtics said they also were starting a new 12-month interest-free payment plan for season ticket holders to spread 2009 playoff tickets and 2009-10 payments over the next year.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said the team sent renewal forms to season ticket holders this week, and is keeping prices the same.

The Red Sox also announced last fall they weren’t increasing their ticket prices at Fenway Park for the 2009 season for the first time in more than a decade.

Other professional teams around the country have made similar decisions in recent months.
