FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District is gearing up for spring with plans for the annual shrub program and spring compost bin, rain barrels and trout programs.
The district will offer high bush blueberries, many varieties of raspberries, fruit trees, rhubarb, horseradish and asparagus as well as new flowering shrubs, including yellow primrose, blue and purple lilacs.
Early orders are encouraged to assure availability. For a shrub brochure, go to www.franklincswcd.org, or call 778-4279.
The pick-up dates are Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10. Orders for seed sales are also being accepted.
The district will also offer compost bins and rain barrels for sale. Rain barrels purchased before April 30 are $25 off, at $75 each.
Trout order forms are available at www.franklincswcd.org. There’s a discount on all trout orders placed before March 15. The district is also offering trout food and a special pond cleaning agent as a part of this year’s trout program.
The annual action is also set for Friday, March 13, at Mt. Blue Middle School. Fuel oil, hay, mulch, gift certificate and novelty items will be available. Viewing will begin at 5:15 p.m.
