AUGUSTA (AP) – The state energy office says the average cash price for heating oil in Maine has dropped another two pennies to $2.31 per gallon.

In its weekly survey, the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said actual prices ranged from a low of $1.86 in southwestern Maine to a high of $2.55 in northern and eastern Maine. The statewide kerosene price average is $2.79 per gallon.

John Kerry from the energy office reiterated that the lower cost of fuel is directly tied to lower demand caused by the economic slowdown.
