LEWISTON – Walter Richard Dresser, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, with family by his side.

He was born May 20, 1927, in Oxford, to Bickley L. and Florence (Perkins) Dresser. He served his country during World War II in the Pacific aboard the L.S.M. 477, U.S. Navy. After the service, he returned to the Lewiston-Auburn area.

On Oct. 1, 1946, he and F. Lorraine Giggey were married at the High Street Methodist Church in Auburn. They had six children together and were married 59 years, until his beloved wife, Lorraine passed away Dec. 23, 2006.

He attended grade school in Oxford and junior high and high school in Lewiston. He then graduated from Bliss College. He worked many jobs over the years, before retiring from Bath Iron Works.

He was a past master of the Oxford Grange, vice commander of American Legion Post 31 and life member of DAV. He was a present member of Tranquil Masonic Lodge 29, A.F. & A.M., Bradford Royal Arch Chapter 9, Lewiston Commander 6 Kora Shrine.

He is survived by one brother, Bickley and wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Patricia Keene; sons, Bradley and wife, Sandra, Daniel and wife, Donna, and Richard and wife, Karen; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
