This is in response to the photos of the St. Dom’s and Lewiston High School cheerleaders pictured on the front of the sports section Feb. 8.

The girls did a great job, but the photo exposed too much of them. I would be horrified if I were to open the newspaper and see my legs on the front page spread wide open. I hope the photos didn’t cause the girls any grief. If I were a parent of one of those girls, I would not be taking those photos lightly, and there would be repercussions for the Sun Journal as well.

There are many different stunts during a cheering routine, and I’m sure there must have been other photos of the competition that could have been used instead. Whoever made the choice of the photos put those high school girls on display in a very inappropriate manner.

I feel the Sun Journal, at the very least, owes the girls and their families a sincere apology, and a commitment to be more mindful of photos used of children in the future.
