About 150 million light years away on a planet called HD 209458b, scientists found a necessary resource for life to live, water. Planet HD209458b is a gas-like planet, like Jupiter, in the constellation of Pegasus.
Even though there was water, scientists could not find any presence of water in the planet’s atmosphere. Scientists say that the planet absorbs water quickly because of its gas-like form. Even though there is water, scientist say that the planet cannot support life because of its gas-like structure.
The person who found the water was astronomer Travis Barman and astronomer Heather Knutson. They used the Hubble Space Telescope at Harvard University to spot the water.
