YMCA to launch winter group power
AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will launch the latest segment of its program, Group Power, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with four free classes open to members and nonmembers.
The winter release will feature new music, new exercises and new programming as the YMCA continues to develop the first nationally certified program in Maine and New Hampshire.
Group Power is a 60-minute barbell program that strengthens major muscles in a group environment with music and nationally certified instructors. With simple, athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all ages and fitness levels.
The YMCA will launch the program on Feb. 18 with four free classes open to the public. Participants must register by Tuesday, Feb. 17. The class times on Feb. 18 will be 9 to 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The YMCA will offer 12 one-hour Group Power classes each week along with more than 25 other exercise classes.
