CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Maranacook sophomore Evan Vincent continued his quest for national prominence by winning the men’s 3,000-meter racewalk at MIT on Saturday.
Vincent, whose winning time was 14 minutes, 53.73 seconds, took command early and was never seriously challenged. It was his second victory in two weeks, after qualifying for the national junior 10,000 racewalk championships, scheduled for mid June in Eugene, Ore.
Youth didn’t stop 10-year-old Spencer Dunn of Auburn. Despite competing against older racers, Dunn placed fourth with a time of 18:15.36.
In the women’s race, Edward Little freshman Abby Dunn of Auburn walked a personal best time of 16:18.42 to finish third, while Lewiston’s Nicole Court-Menendez took fourth with a personal best of 16:49.15.
Edward Little junior Christie Bernier placed fifth in 17:58.93.
Erin Taylor, an open-class racewalker from the South Texas Walking Club, easily won the women’s race. She crossed the finish line in 14:59.56.
