JAY – A broken rail caused a Pan Am Railways train to derail last month near the Crash Road railroad crossing, Federal Railroad Administration spokesman Robert Kulat said.
The FRA did an inquiry into the derailment.
Five train cars went off the tracks, he said. Two rolled onto their sides, one was leaning and two were upright, Dulat said.
The train was moving at 10 miles per hour at the time it derailed, he said.
There were no injuries and no hazardous materials were involved, he said. The derailed cars were carrying paper, and no product was spilled.
The track was back in service on Jan. 30.
