LEWISTON – Heidemarie (Kunigunde) Gammon, 67, of Oxford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 10, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born Heidemarie Kunigunde Mollen on July 27, 1942, in Elversberg, Germany, and she was predeceased by her mother, Else Mollen and father, Peter Mollen.
She married the love of her life, Emery Gammon on June 23, 1961, in Ramstein, Germany, and spent the next 20 years as a devoted military wife, during which time she taught herself to speak, read and write English.
She was passionate about gardening, antiquing, cooking and her family. Her family and friends considered her to have an exceptional “green thumb” and her cooking was legendary during the time that she ran the cafeteria at the flea market in Oxford. She was a beloved wife and best friend to her husband Emery of 48 years, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She is survived by three sons, Leslie and wife, Martha, Emery and Steven; three sisters, Marina Blasing and husband, Wolfgang, Karin Sherer and husband, Clause, and Gisela Kern; six grandchildren, Dillon, Whitney, Tyler, Morgan, Jason and Tony; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Molly and Braden.
