LEWISTON – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is celebrating its feline “purrfect pairs” and “sweethearts” during February. Throughout the month, when two adult cats are adopted, the adoption cost for the second cat will be half off.

The offer excludes kittens, and both adoptions must take place at the same time.

There are many benefits to sharing a home with two feline friends, provided they are well-matched for one another and the home is large enough for all to live together comfortably. Two cats provide each other with exercise, social interaction and mental stimulation. They are less likely to become destructive and engage in troubling behaviors if they are allowed to play together.

The society provides a safe haven for more than 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of citizens.

Perspective pet parents can visit the shelter at 55 Strawberry Ave. For more information about volunteering or adopting an animal, call 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org.
