On Feb. 3, I had the opportunity to go to the Edward Little/Leavitt boys basketball game at EL. Words cannot describe the display of sportsmanship shown by both schools.
Coach Mike Adams and Coach Mike Hathaway exemplified the leadership that we hope to find in all coaches, and I thank them.
To the players on both teams, thank you for your show of sportsmanship, and for taking a moment to realize how fortunate you all are to participate at the interscholastic level.
To the fans, especially those from Leavitt High School, thank you for your positive support. Your actions speak highly of not only you, but your community as well.
Most of all, I thank Josh Titus for making all of us in attendance stop and remember what high school sports are all about: A chance for young people to challenge themselves physically, mentally and emotionally; to be part of something larger than themselves; and to realize no matter what your role on the team, your contribution matters.
