AUGUSTA – The King and Jean Cummings Charitable Trust Fund of the Maine Community Foundation recently awarded more than $154,000 in grants to 21 nonprofits working in the fields of arts, education, the environment and cultural preservation.

Grants were made to the following area nonprofits:

Carrabassett Valley Academy, Carrabassett Valley, for the Cummings Campus Project.

Jobs for Maine Graduates, Augusta, to support a financial literacy program.

Maine Academic Decathlon, Monmouth, to expand student participation.

Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program, Auburn, for volunteer training.

Maine Women’s Policy Center, Hallowell, to support leadership education opportunities for young women in rural counties.

Mountain Counties Heritage, Farmington, to support the Maine Woods Consortium.

SAD 58, Phillips, for a steel drum class for middle school students in Kingfield and Phillips.

Ski Museum of Maine, Farmington, for the “Down-Mountain and Cross-Country: 140 Years of Skiing in Maine” photography exhibition.

University of Maine School of Economics, Orono, to support a collaborative, statewide household financial education initiative for lower-income families.
