ORONO – The Maine women used a balanced scoring attack to snap a 16-game losing streak for a 57-49 triumph over New Hampshire in an America East contest Thursday night.

The victory was Maine’s first in the conference after losing its first nine games.

The Black Bears (3-20) played a strong first half and opened a 28-20 advantage at intermission. Maine never trailed in the game and led by as many as 15 points with 8:22 to play.

Brittany Boser led the bears with 13 points, while Samantha Wheeler and Samantha Baranowski had nine points each and Tanna Ross had eight. Amy Simpson led UNH with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.

Gordon 64, Bates 52

WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon used a late 22-0 run over a seven-minute stretch of the second half for a 64-52 victory over Bates.

The Bobcats (12-11) scored three more field goals than their opponent, but Gordon was deadly from the foul line. The Fighting Scots sank 24 of 26 free throw attempts, which proved to be the difference.

Chris Wilson and Marshall Hatch led Bates with 15 points apiece.
