LEWISTON – Richard A. Gould, 79, resident of Moody Road in Brunswick, formerly of Lisbon Falls, died Monday, Feb. 16, at Montello Manor, after a brief illness.

He was born July 22, 1929, in Providence, R.I., a son of Herman E. and Charlotte M. (Brinkworth) Gould. He was educated in East Providence, R.I., and graduated from East Providence High School, Class of 1948.

He married Esther R. Fratus on June 27, 1953, and together they raised their daughter, Janice E. Gould. He worked as a civil engineering cartographer for the U.S. Government for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a long-time communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Lisbon Falls. He was a former member of the Lisbon Rotary Club and was a member for more than 20 years with Toastmasters International of Brunswick and Lewiston/Auburn.

He enjoyed spending free time 10-pin bowling, playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family at their camp in Lock Mills.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther R. (Fratus) Gould of Brunswick; a daughter, Janice E. Gould of Brunswick; and a brother, John N. Gould of Putnam, Conn.
