CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Sugarloaf/USA will hold a celebration of life for Paul Schipper at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Jean Luce Competition Building.

Schipper, who skied every day for more than 24 years at Sugarloaf, died Monday at the Veterans’ Rehabilitation Center in Bangor. He was 85.

In the Jean Luce building, Schipper’s good friends, such as Rich “Crusher” Wilkinson, Pam Morse and Warren Cook, are to speak, said resort spokesman Ethan Austin.

Afterward, a parade of skiers will head down Narrow Gauge Trail and through Schipper’s Streak, the section named after the skiing legend. Twenty-five balloons will be released, one for each year of Schipper’s streak.
