PARIS – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension offers a program to help consumers stretch food dollars and prepare tasty, healthy meals for themselves and their families.

The “Eat Well Nutrition Education” program for healthy eating is free, fun and confidential for families and individuals who are eligible for food stamps.

Participants can pick up new ideas and recipes for healthy meals, and learn how to make good snacks, plan meals despite busy lifestyles, make favorite recipes healthier and keep foods safe.

The program is delivered one-on-one in participants’ homes, in small groups or through the “Eat Well by Mail” course.

UMaine Extension nutrition staff members are available throughout Maine. The Oxford County program is based in the UMaine Extension office in South Paris, at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482. The Franklin County program is based in the UMaine Extension Farmington office, at 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478. UMaine Extension programs are open and accessible to all in accordance with program goals.
