NORWAY – Western Maine Health Senior Vice President of Clinical Services M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, has announced that Anita Day, RN, BSN, MSN, has received her master’s degree in nursing in health care systems management from Loyola University in New Orleans, La.
Day has been the nurse director of the Medical Surgical and ICU departments at Stephens Memorial Hospital since December 2004. Prior to that, she worked in a variety of nursing positions at SMH, including as staff RN in Medical Surgical and ICU, relief supervisor for six years, cardiac rehab coordinator for six years and CHF coordinator for two years.
Day also coordinated the advanced cardiac life support program for several years. During her time away from SMH she worked as a per diem RN in the Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital, Conway, N.H., and as a clinical instructor for St. Joseph’s College nursing program.
In addition to her MSN, Day has a bachelor of arts in psychology and bachelor of science in nursing. She is certified as an ACLS instructor and is a neonatal resuscitation provider. She is also a diabetes instructor.
To fulfill her internship requirements, Day worked with a chronic care management program out of Portland. Despite their location, she found a way to combine the health education needs of the Oxford Hills Community with her need to author her final graduate paper.
In December, she submitted a grant proposal for Stephens Memorial Hospital to offer a health education series called “Living Well: Chronic Disease Self Management.”
In January, the hospital was informed that it received the $4,000 grant award.
