Board: Sabattus selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
Transfer station: Closing early
Issue: The transfer station is running behind budget because recyclables aren’t getting the prices they once were. At an earlier meeting, selectmen asked for transfer station officials to monitor the traffic and identify slow periods.
The scoop: The transfer station is currently open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The slowest time of day: 3 to 4 p.m.
Up next: To save $1,433.48, selectmen set new hours, starting March 1: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Doo please, pick up
Issue: Selectmen have gotten a number of complaints about pet waste left on downtown streets.
The scoop: Sabattus doesn’t have an ordinance requiring pet poop pickup.
Up next: Via posters around town, selectmen are asking owners to clean up out of courtesy to others.
Pass on new dispatch
Issue: Sabattus currently pays about $36,935 for county dispatch services. The town got a proposed quote for the new E911 Dispatch Center: $131,492.
The scoop: Selectmen are saying no thanks. They agreed to send a letter to the town of Turner, supporting its call for the breakup of the Androscoggin County Dispatch Committee.
