With snow expected overnight across the region, most cities and towns were announcing parking bans into Thursday.

In Lewiston, a ban on parking on public streets will be in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 3 p.m. Thursday. All streets must be clear to allow for plowing operations in order to maintain access for emergency vehicles, the director of public works and the police chief said in a written release.

In Auburn, a similar ban was put into effect between midnight and 9 p.m. on Thursday. In both cities, police were reminding motorists that vehicles parked in violation of the ban will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.
