PORTLAND (AP) – FairPoint Communications says it’s planning to hire about 100 new employees for business and sales positions throughout its service area in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

The company, which bought Verizon’s land lines in the three states for $2.3 billion last year, recently held job fairs in Bangor and Littleton, N.H., to solicit applications. FairPoint is looking for experienced sales representatives who will service the small and medium-sized business market in northern New England.

Open positions include account executive, account manager, sales manager and sales support consultant.

FairPoint said that since acquiring Verizon’s landline operations in northern New England, it has added about 1,000 new jobs.
