NORWAY – A 29-year-old sex offender was arrested Wednesday after the conclusion of a year-long investigation into allegations of new sexual misconduct.

Scott William Mayberry, of 467 Main St., remained at the Oxford County Jail on Thursday on $5,000 bail after being charged with Class C gross sexual assault.

According to a report by police Detective Gary Hill, Mayberry was accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl in January 2008. Hill said the Maine State Police Crime Lab concluded on Wednesday that Mayberry’s DNA matched DNA evidence found on the girl’s pajamas.

Hill said police officer Holli Pullen stunned Mayberry with her Taser after he resisted arrest. Mayberry was taken to the jail after being medically cleared at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Mayberry was convicted of Class D unlawful sexual contact in 1998, and later required to register as a sex offender. Hill’s report states that Mayberry also admitted to related sexual misconduct in a 1995 juvenile case.
