PORTLAND – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County has announced its spring Hort Shorts and More series. The series is a variety of courses and workshops for the horticulture, agriculture and nature enthusiast.

Class sessions begin on Tuesday, March 3, and will include the following courses: Backyard Poultry, Plants That Heal, Square Foot Gardening, Growing Small Fruit, Plant Based Dyes and Garden tours.

Participants will gain skills and knowledge to make them more confident and successful gardeners; work with knowledgeable, enthusiastic instructors; meet others with similar interests; receive hands-on experience; and receive a useful reference notebook filled with valuable information.

Series instructors include extension specialists and educators, master gardeners and horticulture experts.

Class size is limited for each course, so early registration is advised.
