ROCKLAND – The strong polo team from Lewiston was defeated this evening by the Rockland team in the fastest game ever witnessed here. At the beginning of the third period the score was tied and after playing 14 minutes and 15 seconds of the third period, O’Brien of Lewiston drove the ball into his own goal in order to prevent a four period game and giving the winning score to the local team.

For the first time in many years, Edward Little and Lewiston will clash in a season-ending basketball game tonight with a lot at stake.

In recent years, Lewiston has been able to make the Class A tournament while Edward Little has been an also-ran. Not so this year. Both teams will qualify for the tournament at the Cumberland County Civic Center, and tonight’s outcome will directly effect where they will be seeded.

Jim Alden, in his third year as EL coach, beat Lewiston for the first time earlier this season as his Red Eddies rallied for a 59-58 triumph before about 1,500 people at the EL gym. Lewiston’s gym will hold considerably more fans than that, and in light of the situation, more can be expected.
