LIVERMORE FALLS – A woman was startled Sunday after she opened a dentist’s office to do some work and found a man sitting by a computer station, police said.

The man fled but police were able to track him down at 9 Sturtevant Place.

Ronald J. Davis III, 19, of Livermore Falls, was arrested on charges of burglary and theft, police Lt. Thomas Gould said.

Davis was arrested in late January on charges of burglary and theft in connection with several break-ins where money and a snowmobile were stolen from the Spruce Mountain Ski Area in Jay.

Police were called Sunday to investigate the burglary just after noon at Dr. Roger Kay’s office on the second floor of the Sturtevant Building, formerly known as the bank building, on Main Street, Gould said.

Officer Joseph Sage discovered that a small undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the scene, Gould said.

When the computer that the suspect had been seen sitting near was started, it was found that the suspect had been engaged in a chat session, Gould said.

Sage was able to find a user name and Yahoo account that had been used on the computer.

Davis matched the description that the employee had given of the man she saw in the office, Gould said.

Sage secured DNA and fingerprint evidence from the scene and then was able to locate Davis.

Davis was taken to the station and interviewed. He admitted to burglarizing the dentist’s office, Gould said. Besides DNA and fingerprint evidence, Davis was identified by the employee who found him in the office.

According to officer Sage, Gould said, Davis is a transient who has been living in a closet on the third floor of a building since his release from the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington several weeks ago.

A charge of violating bail conditions was to be filed against Davis Monday, Gould said.
