When Obama stepped on the scene, he was like the single shining star against a dreary black night. The past eight years have been difficult, and things have taken place that weigh heavy on our hearts. I would like to use some time to also point out that Bush is not the cause of everything that has happened. He did not help one bit, possibly made it worse, but some of the devastating things that occurred, such as 9/11, would have most likely happened no matter who was president. And let us be real people, war was a bad choice, but weren’t we all rooting for it at the beginning and all jumping to irrational action? You can say yes or no, that is just my perspective.
Now those eight years are done and we find ourselves at the lowest of lows, struggling with our failing economy, struggling for a semblance of order, and we’re struggling to survive. Knowing these hardships, Obama has stepped up, has stepped out of the boundary of safety to put himself out there straight in the path of all our troubles, as we sit there and criticize him. He has offered himself in the hopes and determination that he can lead us and dig us out of this hole we’ve put ourselves in. That alone, knowing everything he has to deal with and still taking up the challenge, is incredible.
It won’t be easy, and he knows that. I mean, his hair is already getting grayer! Will he be the one to get us back to our prime? That is highly unlikely. That will take years and years, so don’t expect that of him. No, he’ll just be the one to get us pointed in the right direction. That doesn’t mean he’ll do everything right. He will make mistakes, he will be judged and criticized for it. But his heart is in the right place, and Obama is what America needed! I just wish him luck.
