AUBURN – Irene Y. Boutin, 78, of Taylor Street in Auburn, died unexpectedly at her home, Monday, Feb. 23.
She was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Annette (Boutin) Beaulieu. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Philippe E. Boutin Sr. He predeceased her in 1978. Together they owned and operated a bakery called Ann’s Bakery in Connecticut, where she was known for her amazing cake-decorating skills. Later she went on and worked for Stop & Shop as a cashier.
She enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants, going to the movies, cooking for family and spending as much time as she could with them. She will be missed for her beautiful singing voice and her willingness to take care of anyone who needed to be taken care of.
She leaves a daughter, Mary Ann Wearing of Auburn; a son, Philippe E. Boutin Jr. of Hartford, Conn.; three grandchildren, Shaun P. Quinn and his wife, Jeanne, of Greenland, N.H., Amanda Irene Andrews and her husband, John, of Auburn and Sarah H. Hammill and her husband, Dr. Robert Hammill, of Waynesboro Va.; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
