Michaela Daigle, 10, of Lewiston sits during the Ash Wednesday service at Saints Peter and Paul Basilica. The Catholic community observed the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season which culminates on Easter Sunday. The Rev. Marc Caron said, “It is a time for Christians to reflect on our mortality, the condition of our soul and prepare to meet our God the creator.”
