A Family for Me: The process, benefits, the children and requirements of adoption and foster care in Maine will be covered. Children in Maine of all ages need respite, emergency, long term or other family members to be licensed foster parents and/or adoptive families. Class begins Tuesday, March 3, for one week. There is no charge for the course.
Baby sitter training: The course prepares youth ages 11 to 15 to handle the job of baby-sitting. Learn how to prevent accidents, what to do in an emergency and how important a baby sitter can be in the life of a child. Course includes CPR training and certification. Fee includes a take-home manual for each student. Class begins Monday, March 2, for six weeks. Cost is $62.
Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid: The course will provide individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injures and sudden illnesses including choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over care of victims of all ages. Class begins Wednesday, March 4, for 3 weeks. Cost is $72.
Greek Easter Cooking: Participants will prepare and bake Greek appetizers and traditional Easter desserts. Students will learn to make baklava, dolmathakia, tzatiki, koulourakia, galaktobouriko and lampropsomo (sweet Easter bread). Class begins Thursday, March. 5, for 3 weeks. Cost is $65 for the series or $25 each class.
Hip Hop Dance Class: A high-energy dance class that’s not only fun, but also a great cardio workout. Learn some of the basics of hip hop, while dancing to some of the latest sounds in the industry. Students will be able to perform a full routine. No dance background needed. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Class begins Monday, March. 2, for 6 weeks. Cost is $60.
Resume Writing: Participants should bring information to create a working resume to take home. Program will teach the format and required information to make a great impression on a potential employer. Class begins Thursday, March 5, for 1 week. Cost is $15.
H&R Block Self-employment and Small Business Tax Considerations: Class is for those with a small business, who are self-employed or have an in-home office. An experienced tax professional will explain obvious and overlooked expenses. Maximizing depreciation deductions will also be discussed. Class begins Wednesday, March. 4, for 1 week. Cost is $5.
