LEWISTON – HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults offered by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, has a wide range of classes with the core membership fee as well as a variety of specialty classes, including:

Ashtanga Yoga: Primary Standing Series: The beginner class is an athletic vinyasa format (meaning poses and breath energetically flow together). Participants should wear loose clothing or a leotard, avoid eating one to two hours before class and bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

The class will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, April 1 to May 6, at the Lepage Large Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. Cost is $45.

Advanced Belly Dancing: Participants should dress in workout clothing or a long flowing skirt and comfortable top. Stockings or bare feet are preferred.

The class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, March 2 to 23, at the Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave. Cost is $45.

Gentle Exercise: The class is designed for those with arthritis, recovering from cancer, or any other individual who desires a mild form of exercise, to help improve range of motion, strength, posture, balance and coordination.

The class will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 10 to April 9 at the Bank of America Room, Women’s Health Pavilion, 330 Sabattus St. Cost is $22 or free with core membership.

Racquetball: Specific time slots are available for registration Monday through Friday on the hour for an hour from 6 a.m. to noon.

Senior Fitness: The one-hour class provides a safe and effective workout that includes a warm-up, cardiovascular component, resistance training to build strength, balance and flexibility exercises. It is set for 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, March 9 to April 10, at the Nutrition Center of Maine, 208 Bates St. Instructor will be Johanne Healey; cost, $30.
