The anger grows as more and more working Americans lose their jobs as the recession deepens. What is feeding the anger is the perception that the esteemed congressional representatives and senators are not listening to the people. Those members of Congress, who were supposedly guarding the henhouse, not only left the door open but invited the fox inside.
Some of the anger I feel would be softened if I could perceive that Congress was trying to determine the causes of the nation’s financial disaster, and throwing those associated with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debacle in jail. Why isn’t that happening?
To cap it off, Maine’s two Republican-in-name-only senator sisters became traitors and voted for the stimulus with those who created the mess. That pork-filled rescue measure is repealing the welfare reforms of 1996 and, according to the Heritage Foundation, will cost an additional $800 billion (yes, that is a “B”) over the next decade.
Where is all the money eventually coming from?
You guessed it – from the taxpayers, their children and grandchildren.
Shame on Sens. Collins and Snowe. What part of party loyalty don’t they understand? I, for one, would gladly sign a recall petition.
People would feel less fear if there was any trust in Washington’s leaders, but they seem to let us down repeatedly.
So much for hope and change.
