BETHLEHEM, Pa., – Virginia E. Plata, of Bethlehem, Pa., and formerly of Lewiston, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 27, the day after her 64th birthday.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1945, in Cementon, Pa., the daughter of the late Michael Plata Sr. and the late Anna (Biss) Plata.

Virginia was a registered nurse and worked in several hospitals in Maine for many years.

She was a member of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Northampton, Pa. Virginia was very dedicated to her faith community and was a CCD teacher in Maine for several years.

She is survived by her brothers, Robert Plata and his wife, Virginia, of Coplay, Pa., and David J. Plata of Northampton., Pa.; sisters, Ruthann, wife of Roland Grieshammer, Mary Helen Plata, and Ann Marie, wife of Thomas Pavlinsky, all of Bethlehem, Pa., and Monica Plata of Northampton, Pa.; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is also survived by her extended family and friends in Maine, her adopted mother, Connie Currie, her daughters, Louann, Patrice, Jean Marie and friend, Bill Lee, and Robert and Lisa Mancini and sons, all members of the Currie family; and friends, Eileen and Reggie Albert and family, Dena and Kim Albert and family, Claire Blais, Nan Boucher and Mary Goods.

Virginia was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Plata and Michael Plata.
