LEWISTON – The American Hospital Association has recognized Kathleen Kuritz of Lewiston as a certified administrator of volunteer services under the auspices of its national exam. Certification is conferred upon completion of an examination, peer review and demonstration of competencies.

Kuritz demonstrated expertise in human resources management; finance and budgeting; planning and program development; organizational delivery of services; advocacy; outreach; public relations, professional development, and retail and hospital gift shop practices.

Of 42 Maine-based hospitals, Kuritz is one of only four practicing volunteer services administrators to have achieved certification since the inception of the credential.

Kuritz has been employed by St. Mary’s Health System since 2003 and has served as volunteer services coordinator since 2005. She is a member of St. Mary’s Mission Advisory Committee and is also affiliated with the national Association for Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals; the New England Association of Directors of Healthcare Volunteer Services and the Maine Society of Directors of Healthcare Volunteer Services.
