This is in response to a Sun Journal story printed Feb. 20 about a group of SAD 17 employees who might stand to get money back they had donated to avoid a budget cut that would have cost some jobs. The story indicated that money from the federal stimulus bill might be used to repay them.

I don’t feel that is a fair way to use the stimulus funds. The employees, according to the article, gave up a day’s pay to help seven other employees keep their jobs. The ones who donated were recognized in the national media for their generosity.

My question, would they be willing to also be recognized for accepting the money back?

I was shocked to think it was even considered.
