Under its slogan “Forward With Scotland’s Past,” Battlefield Band blends old Scottish songs and originals, and fuses ancient and modern instruments, including bagpipes, fiddle, synthesizers, guitar, cittern, flute, bodhran and accordion. Founded in 1969, the group performs worldwide and will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath. Battlefield Band’s songs include remorseful ballads, pastoral celebrations and the tavern song. The “Batties” have been playing jigs, reels and marches for 40 years and have released more than 20 albums. Their music is played regularly on National Public Radio’s “Thistle and Shamrock” program, and they are frequent guests on “A Prairie Home Companion.” Tickets to the concert are $21-28.
