This is in response to an Associated Press article I saw in the Sun Journal, Feb. 28, dealing with a new study on light pollution. The article, “Maine ‘Dark Skies’ bill advances,” dealt with restricting commercial lighting to downward pointing lights to reduce light pollution.

I find the idea of such a study to be a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money when people are in a time of economic downturn. Why is money being spent on a pointless study when the state budget is facing a deficit requiring cutting funds for the education system? Don’t the Democrats in the Maine Legislature have anything better to do than waste taypayers’ money?
