DURHAM – The Durham Conservation Commission will sponsor an event to recognize the leaders who made the conservation of 65 acres of farmland on the Davis Road possible. It will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Durham Firehouse.
The Royal River Conservation Trust and the Sinisi family set out to conserve the area last summer. While project partners are still working to meet their fundraising goal, the Davis Farm project closed in November.
The new owners, the Sinisi family, granted an agricultural easement on the property, ensuring that family farming and locally grown foods will always be an integral part of the community.
The guest speaker will be Henry Nichols, executive director of the trust. Nichols will talk about how his organization assisted the Sinisi family in meeting their personal farming and land conservation goals.
Steve Sinisi, owner of Old Crow Ranch, will share his inspiration and experience from the perspective of a young Maine family embarking upon a future of farming.
For further information, contact Paul First at 221-2899 or Henry Nichols at 847-9399.
