A team belonging to the Parker Spool and Bobbin Company tipped over in the electric car track on Main Street near Hotel Atwood early last evening and the horse had a wild run before he was stopped. When the sleigh tipped over, the horse managed to free himself and ran down the railroad track over both bridges and was finally stopped about a mile and a half below the city. How the animal managed to get over the lower bridge by the Androscoggin Mills is a wonder. The sleepers are some distance apart and there was almost every chance that he would fall through and break a leg. But he didn’t and was uninjured when stopped.

A State Police turnpike officer yesterday warned against youths’ actions of dropping objects from turnpike overpasses and endangering vehicles passing underneath.

Lt. Roger M. Whitmore referred to the recent incident in which two youngsters dropped ice chunks that shattered a bus windshield injuring the driver and endangering the lives of 23 passengers. Various objects have been thrown onto the turnpike by unthinking youngsters.

“I have seen the windshield of a car completely cleaned out by a corn husk dropped from an overpass. This too nearly resulted in a fatal accident,” Whitmore said.
