OAKLAND (AP) – Officials say a middle school student has been charged with two felonies after bringing a loaded gun to school.

Superintendent Jim Moore said Messalonskee Middle School in Oakland went into lockdown Thursday morning after the principal was informed that the student had a gun. No shots were fired and nobody was hurt.

Moore said police were called and the child was apprehended with a loaded firearm. The student is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and terrorizing.

The student’s name and age were not released.
