BURLINGTON, Vt. – K. Kent Hotham, 73, of Gardiner and formerly of Rumford, died Sunday, March 1, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care.

He was born in Rumford, on June 19, 1935, a son of Gilbert and Helen (Kelley) Hotham. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1954, and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono, Class of 1971.

He had served as an airman second class in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

For many years, he was an administrator for cities, towns and schools in Maine and New Hampshire and for the N.H. Municipal Association for Health Insurance Trust and the Maine Municipal Health Insurance Trust, until retirement in 1995.

Kent was a member of the Blazing Star Lodge 30, AF & AM. He enjoyed playing golf, reading and especially loved his family.

Survivors include daughters, Juanita Schein and husband, Brent, of Elizabethtown, Pa., and Karen St. Pierre and companion, Ed Schlak, of Burlington, Vt.; sons, Douglas Hotham of Hallowell, Keith Hotham of Grand Isle, Vt., and Mark Hotham of Winthrop; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, “Lucky” Hotham and wife, Sharon, of Sebago Lake and Lee Hotham of Rumford; sister, Patti Inglis of Rumford; and former daughter-in-law, Sherri Merrifield of Limington.

He was predeceased by a brother, Glen “Skip” Hotham.
