RUMFORD – A teenage girl who was injured Thursday snowboarding during a free night at Black Mountain of Maine was treated and released from a Portland hospital Friday.
The ski area would not disclose the girl’s name or the extent of her injuries, but Med-Care Ambulance Service Assistant Director Chris Moretto said Friday that the girl hit her head while snowboarding.
Med-Care took the teen to Rumford Hospital; she was then flown by helicopter to Portland’s Maine Medical Center on Thursday night.
Moretto said the girl was kept overnight for treatment and observation before being released Friday.
Jim Carter, the operations manager at Black Mountain, and ski patrolman Dennis Moore declined comment on the accident or treatment of the girl.
