NORWAY – An Oxford man remained hospitalized here Sunday night after spending several hours in the woods overnight Sunday following a fight with his friends at a camp near Greenwood.

Bill Letourneau, 64, of Oxford, was listed in stable condition at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway after being located by air at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday on a power line trail known as Pat’s Mountain Trail near Greenwood.

According to a news release issued by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Letourneau was found about two miles from his camp. He was spotted from the air by Dan Dufault, a pilot with the Maine Warden Service, following a two-hour search.

Sgt. Tim Place of the Maine Warden Service said that Letourneau’s only cold weather clothing was snow pants when he left camp in the early morning hours on Sunday after an argument with fellow campers. He was not wearing boots or a jacket.

Letourneau left camp at about 1 a.m. Sunday, but wasn’t reported missing until 8 that morning. He had rolled his snowmobile and was spotted sitting on top of it nearly two hours later. He was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for possible hypothermia.
