Club speaker

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue Area Garden Club member Loraine Norton will discuss “Nitrogen and Its Part in Gardening” when she speaks at the first spring meeting of the club at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road.

Judy Fuller, club president, will conduct the meeting. Hostesses Louise Marcous, Glenda Barker and Pat Stillman will provide refreshments.

CNA course

LEEDS – SAD 52 Adult Education is offering a CNA course running from April 6 through June 4 at Leeds Central School. The class will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Space is limited in the class, but there are still a few slots left. The Adult Education office will conduct interviews starting Monday, March 16. If interested, call 225-3478.

Irish program

CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society invites the public to attend the Saint Patrick’s Day meeting on Thursday, March 12.

David Hutchinson of Weld will show violins he has made and explain the process involved. He will also play old Irish favorite songs.

A potluck supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by a short business meeting before the program at the town office building.

Film airing

FARMINGTON – “The Band’s Visit” will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in Room 202, Ricker Addition, University of Maine at Farmington.

The film won the Audience Award at the Munich and Warsaw Film Festival. It is the story of an Egyptian band that gets lost and stranded in a desolate Israeli village.

The film is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop.
