WOODSTOCK – Selectmen and Town Manager Vern Maxfield will present a municipal budget of $1,056,932 to voters at the annual town meeting. The figure is $5,899 less than last year.

Maxfield said last week that the amount does not include an expected $925,000 assessment for SAD 44 or a $105,000 assessment from Oxford County.

He said he expects the tax rate to rise from $12.65 to $13.16.

“We feel our proposal is the best we could do in keeping with the best interests of the town and could have been much worse,” Maxfield said.

One article expected to draw discussion asks voters to require nomination papers for candidates running for public office.

The annual town meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the gymnasium at the Woodstock Elementary School on Rumford Avenue.
