The Student Council at Philip W. Sugg Middle School recently held a Guitar Hero Contest for medium, hard and expert levels. The game of Guitar Hero is a digital way of playing the guitar. The five buttons on the guitar stand for the notes that are played on the fret board. While hitting the buttons, one strums as the notes appear on a television screen. The more notes one hits correctly, the better you are playing.
How did this all come about? Student Council members distributed sign-up sheets for the contestants to pick the level they wished to play. The preliminary audition had 25 students sign-up. Only two students from each level advanced to the final showdown in front of the entire school on Friday, February 13. The finalists for the medium level were Kayla Angelico and Mason Haley, the finalists for the hard level were Ashley Conrad and Jacob Bremmer, and the finalists for the expert were Ryan Brewer and Elliot Manocal.
In the end, this year’s final winners were Kayla Angelico for the medium level, Jacob Bremmer won the hard level and Ryan Brewer was the winner in the expert level. Adding to the entertainment during the final battle, PWS Principal Richard Green and seventh grade teacher Mrs. Carrie Weymouth joined the fun and battled against each other. The room was electrified with all the noise of cheers for both Mr. Green and Miss Weymouth. Mr. Green won the battle! Way to go Mr. Green! The Guitar Hero Contest proved to be a great stress reliever for our school. Thanks to everyone who participated and attended the event!
