On February 4, Tripp Middle School had a spelling bee that was held in the gym. The three judges were: Mrs. Barbara Gavin, Mrs. Melissa Ellie, and Mrs. Cindy Webber. The person to read off the words being spelled was Mr. Fairbanks. There were 15 students involved in the spelling bee: Kristina Blake, Robert Sanders, Tanner Vincent, Brandon Clark, Kelly Harris, Mark Hite, Christian Trask, Roger Robert, Amanda Fields, Casey Brochu, Samuel Miller, Kara Violette, Taylor Ouellette, Ariel Hack, and John Phair.

The spelling bee lasted about 45 minutes. The majority of the spellers got out in the first and second round. The rest of the spelling bee was between Mark Hite and Roger Robert. It finally ended with Roger winning and Mark becoming the runner-up.
