Videographer Dave Fenwick from TG4 in Ireland films Sen. Margaret Craven, D-Lewiston, during a meeting at the Sun Journal on Wednesday. TG4, a public station that broadcasts in Gaelic, Ireland’s native language, is filming a half-hour documentary on Craven, a native Gaelic speaker. Craven was born in Connemara, Ireland, and emigrated to the U.S. in 1964. She is believed to be the first native Gaelic-speaker elected to any state senate in the United States, according to TG4’s Mire T. N Mhadaoin. The documentary is scheduled to air Monday, April 13.
