Friday, March 13, The Grumps will bring their funky rock and upbeat music to Lavish at 34 Court St., Auburn. Winners of the 2004 WBLM/Michelob Battle of the Bands, the Portland-based band performed 200 shows last year and will play from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Lavish. Formed in 2002, the trio is made up of frontman and guitarist Ryan Halliburton, who has been working as a solo artist since 1996; percussionist Eric Bauer, who studied with Maine drum legend Dick Demers for more than 10 years; and bassist Michael Krapovicky, a multi-instrumentalist who has performed throughout the Northeast. The Grumps have played alongside such artists as The Brothers Creeggan (featuring Jim Creeggan of Barenaked Ladies fame), Dana Shellmire, Susan Tedeschi, Jeremiah Freed, Rustic Overtones, Denny Breau and Jason Spooner.
