LIVERMORE FALLS – SAD 36 administrators have a plan in place when middle school Principal Ted Finn goes out for foot surgery March 30 and must be off his feet for 12 weeks.

High school Principal Shawn Lambert will be on call for any issues that arise daily from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and district instruction supervisor Darren Akerman will be at the middle school from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide administrative support to staff.

Interim Superintendent David Wallace and interim Assistant Superintendent Dave Bois will also be available when needed.

Letters were sent home to middle school parents earlier this week to let them know what was going on, Finn said.

“I was hoping to put (foot surgery) off until the end of the school year, however, the foot has gotten worse (torn tendons and an arch that is on the verge of collapsing) and I was advised to get it fixed ASAP,” Finn said. He chose the latest possible date to go to make sure a plan was put together for his absence.

Finn said he has been told that the earliest he may return to school is the week of June 15.

“Being in one spot (a bed or couch) for 12 weeks is not my idea of fun, especially since I can’t sit still for more than 10 minutes,” Finn said, “but I understand it has to be done. I have faith in my staff and the other administrators to ‘keep the boat afloat’ and I will always be a phone call or e-mail away should they need me.”

The school is still planning to stage “The Price Is Right,” the big school’s fundraiser, on May 2, he said.

“I will do much of the behind-the-scenes prep work for that event,” he said, to keep himself involved.
